Pamela Ullmann, LPAT, ATR-BC, ATCS

Welcome to my professional space! As a licensed mental health professional with over 25 years of clinical experience, I bring a unique blend of expertise and creativity to art therapy. My journey has equipped me with the skills to work effectively across diverse populations, from early childhood to geriatrics, while fostering innovative healing and personal growth approaches. I have learned so much with each position and utilized my skills progressively.
I have successfully managed and expanded programs to support individuals with special needs, organized workshops for families, and led interdisciplinary meetings to enhance patient care. In addition, I have provided emotional support to terminally ill children and their families through various palliative care initiatives.
Throughout my career, I have developed specialized programs to improve the quality of life in diverse care settings. My commitment to comprehensive patient care and program development is evident in every role I undertake. I am blessed that I have been able to use my passion for art and creativity to help others.
In addition to my art therapy and mindfulness work, I am also a writer and author, publishing eBooks and sharing insights on creativity, healing, and self-expression through my blog on Medium. I have a deep passion for art-making and enjoy exploring various creative mediums, including painting, drawing, mixed media, and crocheting. Through my practice and professional work, I strive to inspire others to embrace creativity as a path to growth, healing, and mindfulness.
My Journey
I have always had a strong spiritual inclination, dedicating myself to personal growth and exploring various spiritual practices. Over the past decade, I have embraced mindfulness and incorporated regular meditation into my life. I took a transformative course a few years ago and became a certified mindfulness teacher.
I am genuinely excited to integrate this practice with my art therapy work, as I have experienced its profound healing effects. I am eager to share this journey with others and help them discover the benefits of mindfulness and creativity, especially with adults.
Integrating art and mindfulness in therapy offers a natural and profound pathway to healing. Mindfulness-based art therapy (MBAT) combines mindfulness practices with art therapy to promote health, wellness, and adaptive responses to stress. By focusing on the present moment during the creative process, individuals can express emotions that may be difficult to articulate verbally, leading to increased self-awareness and emotional regulation. This harmonious blend enhances personal insight and fosters a deeper connection between mind and body, facilitating holistic healing. Sharing this with others
I believe deeply in the powerful connection between creativity and mindfulness. When individuals engage in artistic activities with a mindful approach, they cultivate a heightened sense of self-awareness, emotional regulation, and inner peace. The creative process becomes a form of meditation, allowing for the release of stress, the expression of complex emotions, and the development of greater resilience.
Through intentional engagement with art, clients can explore their thoughts and feelings in a nonjudgmental space, gaining deeper insights into their inner worlds.
My work with children is extensive and you can view my CV on LinkedIn. When I work with children, I generally take a “meet the child where they are at” approach. However, mindfulness and art therapy can still be applied with this age group. Read more about this here.

By integrating mindfulness and creative expression, I aim to guide clients on a transformative journey that encourages personal growth, self-acceptance, and holistic well-being. Talking, creating art, meditating, or combining some or all of these is up to you.
